Client Personal Belongings & Medication Policy 

Applies To: All Clients Receiving Services at TLC Nova

1. PURPOSE

This policy establishes clear guidelines regarding personal belongings and medication responsibilities in order to:
   •    Protect client safety
   •    Maintain compliance with Florida non-medical service regulations
   •    Clearly define the non-medical scope of services provided by TLC Nova
   •    Reduce liability exposure for the business

2. PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Clients are solely responsible for all personal belongings brought into the home, including but not limited to:
   •    Clothing
   •    Electronics
   •    Jewelry
   •    Cash
   •    Documents
   •    Valuables of any kind

TLC Nova is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to any personal items.

Clients are strongly encouraged to bring only essential items required for their recovery stay

3. MEDICATION POLICY (NON-MEDICAL FACILITY)

TLC Nova provides non-medical supportive services only. The following medication rules are strictly enforced to remain compliant with Florida law:

​

Permitted Medications
   •    Only medications prescribed by the operating surgeon are permitted.
   •    Routine or maintenance medications (including but not limited to blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid, or similar medications) must be accompanied by written documentation from the client’s Primary Care Provider (PCP).

Prohibited Medications

The following are not permitted on the premises unless explicitly documented in writing by the surgeon or PCP:
   •    Over-the-counter medications
   •    Supplements or vitamins
   •    Herbal remedies
   •    Injections of any kind
   •    Alternative or non-prescribed treatments

THC is strictly prohibited

Medication Management
   •    Clients are solely responsible for managing, storing, and self-administering their approved medications.
   •    Staff do not handle, administer, remind, manage, store, or monitor medications.
   •    Documentation may be reviewed for verification purposes only. Staff do not assess, interpret, or make medical decisions regarding medication use.

4. FAILURE TO COMPLY

Failure to comply with this policy may result in:
   •    Refusal of admission prior to service start, or
   •    Termination of non-medical services, with coordination for safe discharge or transfer when applicable

Services may be terminated without refund if continued services would compromise safety, violate policy, or place the business outside its non-medical scope.
 

5. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITY

By agreeing to services at TLC Nova, clients acknowledge and accept full responsibility for:
   •    Their personal belongings
   •    Their medications and related documentation
   •    All medical decisions and outcomes related to their care

6. DISCLAIMER – NON-MEDICAL SERVICES

TLC Nova does not provide:
   •    Clinical Medical care
   •    Medication administration
   •    Medical assessments or treatment

All medical decisions remain the responsibility of the client and their licensed healthcare providers

​

7. REGULATORY COMPLIANCE NOTICE

TLC Nova is a private, non-medical supportive living environment and is not a licensed healthcare facility, recovery residence, or medical provider under Florida law.

Services provided are limited to hospitality and non-medical recovery support only.
